A Big Thank You to everyone who helped make Creative Cohesion's re-launch possible. Particularly the Tye family!
During last Spring high winds caused our neighbouring building to collapse onto our roof, resulting in a lot of damage. After months of disruption for the charity and tenants we are proud to announce finally being back in full working order. Our celebrations continue in welcoming two new tenants; Lindsey Grieves and Joanne Elliott, the launch of our website and completion of our shutter commission by Frank Styles.
Tim Tate kicked the evening off in style by announcing the re-opening via Skype from America. Both Tim and Michael Janis played a big part in the initial idea of Creative Cohesion so it was fitting that they should be present, even by Skype!
Guests then got to take part in an exclusive preview of Frank Styles new video. The ‘time-lapse’ film documents Franks painting of the shutters, which look amazing, and introduce Creative Cohesion’s resident artists and their practice. Thank-you to Jo Howell, Peter McAdam, Wojtek Bozyk and Nazim Kourgli for the filming and editing. We will soon be uploading the film so keep your eyes peeled!
The evening also saw the opening of a new exhibition ‘Reconnection’ showcasing handmade talent from around the world and our very own Sunderland artists. The exhibition is open until 10th November; gallery open hours are from 10-4pm Thursday to Saturday, so plenty of time to admire the works.
The party was a huge success, and had a great turn out. Thank-you to all who came down to support us and join in with our celebrations, we hope to see you all again at our Christmas Exhibition opening in November. Dates will be announced here soon, or join our mailing list to receive the latest information on Creative Cohesion’s new events and opportunities.
