Practical Pottery Course with Mark Burns Cassell
Due to the great success of the Sunderland Winter Gardens Winter ceramics course, a new course, ‘Sculpting Heads’, will begin at Sunderland Winter Gardens on Monday 10th March.
This is a five week course designed for participants of all ability levels – from total beginner, to those with more experience.
Working alongside local artist Mark Burns Cassell (MBC Ceramics), participants will create their own 3D ceramic masks or portrait sculptures. Resources on Chinese and Ancient Egyptian masks, as well as Japanese designs will be provided, along with all tools and materials. Participants will be introduced to the techniques and skills needed to create their own piece of wall art, and opportunities for one-to-one guidance and support will be provided for all participants, with Mark Burns Cassell on hand to give inspiration and ideas to anyone who has never tried working with clay before.
We will spend the first four weeks working on our clay pieces, and in week five participants will glaze finished pieces. All work will be taken away, fired and returned for participants to collect the week after the end of the course. Please come wearing old clothes or bring an apron with you.
Course dates are: Monday 10th, 17th, and 24th March, and the 7th and 14th April.
Please note that places are limited and this is a popular course. To secure a place please contact Mark Burns Cassell on 07824468383 or at firstname.lastname@example.org to book your place or for any further enquiries.
