Washington Glass School

Located in Washington, DC, the Washington Glass School seeks to create and advance glass as a viable sculptural medium and to introduce artists in other media to the qualities, depth, and processes of glass to enhance their work.

The school’s hallmark is to use glass as an expressive component and blur the lines between art, design, and craft through the integration of the various theoretical, technical, and philosophical aspects of the other.

In 2006, the Sunderland - Washington, DC Friendship Agreement brought the two cities closer together, and in 2008, an international exhibition, Glass 3, joined together artists from Washington Glass School and Cohesion Glass Network. The two institutions have since worked at strengthening the symbiotic and synergistic relationship that has developed between the artists in both countries.
